Today we fly up from Washington, DC to Vermont after a great stay in the Capital. Yesterday we sang in the lovely acoustics of St John's Episcopal Church, Georgetown, and we were privileged to meet, in the interval, one of the audience members, former U.S. Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright. We are now in the final week of this tour, and it is two weeks since we flew out to Mexico. We have certainly kept moving since then. However our last two stops have been close enough together to allow us the luxury of driving rather than flying. Friday's concert in Anville, Pennsylvania, was followed on Saturday by a workshop day, working with the choirs of Lebanon Valley College in the morning, and with some excellent local High School choirs in the afternoon. During our visit to Pennsylvania we had stayed in nearby Hershey, home of America's chocolate industry, where even the street lights are shaped like Hershey's Kisses. I managed to avoid all chocolate during the stay, which is probably a good thing. Now I think about it, I think Vermont is the home State of Ben & Jerry's ice cream - more temptation to be avoided.
