Tórshavn, Faroe Islands

This has been one of the most interesting and exciting weeks in the life of a travelling musician! We could not have been to four more varied places: Genk, Belgium > Priština, Kosovo > Midlands, England > Tórshavn, Faroe Islands.

We have been lucky enough to work with musicians from all of these places as we have given workshops and performed joint repertoire! It is exciting therefore that we have performed our new programme Finding Harmony: the Launch in Kosovo and the Faroes as it aims to demonstrate the awesome power of music to bring people together.

The Midlands was my highlight for many reasons:

  • I am a local boy, so our two concerts, in Solihull and Coventry, required my shortest commute so far;
  • the venues were filled with my family and friends, which was exciting but also slightly nerve-wracking;
  • we performed an amazing new vocal symphony by Toby Young, called Suitcase full of Songs, commissioned specially for these concerts by The King's Singers and the Armonico Consort; and
  • last but not least, we worked and performed with over 500 children, which was completely inspiring!

And, as I write now reflecting on the past week, I am sitting looking at the most beautiful view of the moonlit sea of Tórshavn Harbour! Sadly we leave these wonderful islands tomorrow, but I sure hope we can come back again soon!

See you soon,

Eddie
