The Autobahn...

As I wrote last week, this is an old-school touring style. Today we drive something in the region of 700km in order to get from Switzerland to northern Germany, and Tim and I have Johnny in our car to entertain us and keep us company. He's doing a good job so far! Other than a single instance of heavy traffic, we're on course to arrive by a decent hour. The odd thing for me is that after many years of doing this, I still have little or no idea where the major cities of Germany lie. I blame that on the rise of satellite navigation; I can still remember David unfolding maps and becoming quite excited about navigating, but that's a fairly dim and distant memory now. This is, of course, also my last blog until the Easter break. It's been a great term (including our first tour to South Africa in 20 years!) but definitely time for a break. I'm looking forward to a fun-packed three weeks with the children, including several day trips to attractions in the south of England. Life never stops, but it's always fun!It was with a mixture of sadness and anticipation that we approached last night's final performance with our wonderful collaborators for the Strauss project; the concert had a lovely feel to it, and we enjoyed spending time with Sabine, Knut and Göran after the concert. Sabine celebrated her birthday yesterday, so check out our video on Facebook of the audience singing for her at the close of the concert. It's been important for us to wrap up a lot of the planning for 2018 this term, and I'm delighted to say that we're pretty much on course! The album is nearing completion, a special souvenir book is making progress, our touring diary is shaping up nicely, and the programmes were finally signed off at breakfast yesterday morning. Another good reason for a break is to re-vitalise before a new term, and so we aim to begin the summer with renewed purpose and ready to fine-tune our sound in advance of the anniversary season.Happy Easter, everyone!
