Reykjavik, Iceland

Well, what a few days we had in Iceland. I'm posting this a little late, as we've had a few crazy travel days with little or no internet access, but much of this text was written on Friday after we arrived in Reykjavik following a glorious morning investigating some of Iceland's incredible natural beauty spots. It's not often that we go to a country that's new for each of us in the group, but Iceland ticked that box as the KS last visited back in 1989, just before David started. There was a good number of people who came to our concerts last week and remembered that last visit, and considering the population of the country is only 350,000 we were very pleased to sing to almost 2,000 inhabitants over our two nights! The people were friendly and warm - and so was the weather, as the country is currently experiencing unseasonally warm weather! We hope to return to Iceland soon, and learn more about the rich musical history and culture of the island. Although we performed an arrangement of an Icelandic song, we barely scratched the surface of their sound world, and I know the group is keen to explore more options for next time. Who knows, perhaps we'll even record "Postcards II" and include an Icelandic song? Now we're heading off around Europe for the rest of September before our thoughts turn to auditions in October and the hunt for David's successor. We have some fabulous names in the mix, so although it's a bittersweet process, we're excited to hear how the new KS sound will shape up from next season!
