Good morning CANADA.Most of us are creatures of habit. We establish our daily rhythms and like to stick to them if at all possible. For me, though I'm in a different hotel almost every night, I cherish certain rituals that provide me with a sense of continuity. This morning has, so far, allowed me to indulge in each of my favourites: I woke up; checked my emails; washed my face; got dressed (today in preferred exercise garb); came down for breakfast (always involving smoked salmon and cream cheese if possible); drunk about a gallon of coffee; and set up my little office in the middle of the restaurant. I'll put the exercise garb to use in about an hour, when the salmon and cream cheese (and coffee) have been digested. These are my home comforts - particularly when I'm not at home (in fact, I can't remember the last time I had smoked salmon in the fridge...).I'm excited today. It's my first time in Ottawa, and I'm going to go and explore the centre of town after my exercise. During our drive into the city yesterday, we passed the parliament buildings, the catholic cathedral, the old Union Station, the two universities, the archives and the war memorial, and there's no doubt that this is a very beautiful city. I'm going to try my hardest to see as many of these things as possible from outside a vehicle this morning. It's such a treat that our concert in Christ Church Cathedral, presented by the Ottawa Chamber Music Society, is sold out tonight, and tomorrow morning we'll fly down to Toronto for a concert in the amazing Koerner Hall at the Telus Center. We've been blessed with some amazing venues on this tour, and these two are absolutely no exception. On a final note, I'm forever amazed by the amount of volume my hair can achieve overnight. I did not try to do this - it just happened (and please forgive my morning face)!
