What an extraordinary week.I'm reeling from a wonderful week of touring. Mexico was a blast. Flying out there from the UK three days before the show on Thursday really gave me the chance to get a flavour of Mexico City: its amazing food; its very friendly people; its terrible traffic; its rich cultural and architectural history. Yesterday we made our way to more familiar territory, flying into LA before heading down to Orange Country for a concert at UC Irvine. Honestly -and not that I'm usually morose - I find it impossible to be glum in Southern California. The weather is always exceptional. Even now in November, the sun is strong, the temperature is still in the mid-seventies (for those of you who are au fait with Fahrenheit), and I love how easy it is to stay healthy. This morning I tucked into a delicious vegan (yes, you read correctly) breakfast before going for a beautiful long walk, no need to wear anything warmer than a T-shirt, and there was definitely a call for sunglasses. I really hope I get to spend a lot more time in this amazing part of the world in the future.Right now, we're all on board a flight from LA to Charlotte, before connecting on to Newark. Tomorrow's concert is our only outing of our Great American Songbook programme on this trip, and I'm really looking forward to it. From there it's onto another flight to Atlanta immediately after the concert. Because we don't spend enough time on planes.... ;)On a quick side note - and forgive me if I've said this before - I find it hilarious how often my name is misheard as Tony whenever I'm in the States. Today's quick trip to Starbucks at LAX reinforced that I need to rethink how to pronounce Johnny when I'm on this side of the Atlantic!
