Just got back home to London from two French performances in beautiful concert halls in Paris and Angers. A nice change to be travelling by the rather civilised high-speed rail (Eurostar and TGV) as opposed to the usual flying! I was however feeling rather under the weather for the first time since I've started singing with the group, so it has been a slightly scary experience having to perform our concerts to an incredibly high standard as usual whilst knowing that my voice isn't up to the usual standard, and furthermore juggling with that the prospect of a further six concerts to come in the next eight days! In any case, luckily all went well and the worst of this bug is finally over, so fingers crossed for the coming days...For the rest of today, I'll be avidly preparing the finishing touches for tomorrow's home concert here in London which will include, as ever, some brand new pieces for me, both from memory (e.g. 'Horizons', by Péter Louis van Dijk) and with scores (e.g. the première, 'Arabesques', by Joanna Marsh). It will be a real pleasure to see some close friends from my school and university days in the audience, as well as my mum, for whom it's the first time seeing The King's Singers live -- let alone with me in the line-up!Ciao for now!
