London, UK

It's great to have three days "off" at home! Whilst I'm sure the others are catching up on crucial family time and the like, I'm faithfully focusing my attention to the programmes of the concerts to come in the next few weeks. For any free time I may have in these first few months is, as I was forewarned, the perfect (and indeed only) opportunity to get ahead with music-learning and therewith alleviate any musical concerns which might reveal themselves closer to the day of the concert. In theory, this pre-emptive approach is great: I'm making things easier for myself and the group in the long run. But of course, it also means that I don't get an awful lot of time to physically recover from the frenzy of last week, nor can I refresh myself properly by "taking my mind off things". Nonetheless, this is all part of the job and its challenges, which I respect and enthusiastically rise to.Fortunately, I really am finding every second of my KS work both pleasing and interesting! Perhaps this is just the way I've always dealt with working hard - it certainly doesn't feel a million miles away from when I was revising for my finals at university (even then, I was fairly relaxed about it all); or perhaps it's me being highly aware of the fact that in the grand scheme of things, the so-called "hard-work" I'm currently committing myself to is nothing compared to the stress and difficulties which friends of mine working 14-hour office days in the City face!I'm really looking forward to the private, "home" gig in Henley this Friday, followed by shopping in Bicester for heavy-duty luggage for our upcoming US tour and some much-needed concert shirts - I've only had one so far, which has already been washed at least eight times, corresponding more or less to the number of concerts we've had! Then a slightly more relaxed couple of days to follow, before heading to Finland for the first time next week.Right, now for a cuppa and back to the books!
