It has been a funny day for me! I head to New York tomorrow afternoon to join Johnny, Bruiser and Jules, who are already out there getting ahead with preparations for our tour. A quirk of the ticketing system meant I had to start my journey in Milan, so today, for me, involved a flight to Milan, lunch in the airport, and a flight straight back to London!
The up side of this slightly bizarre journey was the chance to revise the music of our Christmas Songbook programme, which we will be taking all around North America. The programme is packed full of amazing music - from traditional carols that I’ve sung for years in churches and chapels, to brand new arrangements that I can’t wait to present to the famously energetic North American audiences!
This is also the first time I’ll have been on a three-week tour. I went on a two-week trip with King’s College Choir a few years ago, but never three; I’ll be sad to be away from Ellie, and my friends, for so long at this special time of year. But it’s a small price to pay for the honour of performing great music with my amazing colleagues. I’m sure I’ll be meeting many of you for the first time in the next three weeks, and I can’t wait.
