Yesterday we got back from Sion in Switzerland. We performed in Valère Basilica, a stunning fortified church situated on a rocky outcrop which towers over Sion. The church has the most wonderful acoustic and our programme, Communio, an immersive concert featuring pieces covering all aspects of a Mass, worked beautifully in the setting.
Valère Basilica was most certainly one of the most picturesque places I have performed so far in my time as a King’s Singer, and our dressing room had some unexpectedly spectacular views (often our green room is in the basement!). Check out my Instagram where I posted some pictures.
After the concert we were generously taken to dinner by our host. It was a real treat to have raclette, though some of my colleagues became competitive with how many plates of raclette they could eat. So long as the cheese was being eaten, more would be brought my the diligent restaurant staff. Jules managed a staggering 15 plates! I cannot imagine what his dreams must have been like!
Today we are rehearsing in London in readiness for a charity concert tomorrow and our upcoming recording. I am so excited for you to hear the recording which will be out in January.
