In the past week, my parents have wheeled out their rusty old bicycles from their garage for the first time in many years (possibly decades), and started going on daily bike-rides round the local countryside area as part of their daily exercise routine. My mother informs me that the experience has taken her straight back to happy memories of taxiing me across the various greens of central Cambridge in the early '90s, when I was but a toddler, happy to be sitting snugly in the child seat at the rear of her push bike; and Dad was an avid cyclist in his youth, having often done long trips across the UK along numerous country roads and overnight stops at youth hostels along the way.Well, as you can imagine, all this talk of riding bikes has got me rather excited, particularly during these horribly self-isolating times! So Vic and I went ahead today and, with the expert help and advice over the phone of my dear Baritone 2 colleague, Nick, bought a pair of bikes from our local bicycle shop (which remains open during the epidemic as an "essential store"). As the summer draws closer, we cannot wait to get riding as part of our daily bit of exercise, take advantage of all these wonderfully traffic-free roads and discover some of the hitherto-unreachable parts of London during this lockdown.
Wishing you all a great week, wherever in the world you are, and hope you manage to have a ride "on your bike" too...!
