A Carol for Christmas Composition Competition, 2015

We’re delighted to announce that A Carol for Christmas returns this year to give composers across the nation a chance to have their carol performed in the stunning setting of King’s College Chapel, Cambridge this December, conducted by Stephen Cleobury, broadcast on Classic FM and published by Edition Peters.The competition will be judged by Stephen Cleobury CBE (Director of Music, King’s College, Cambridge), John Rutter CBE (composer, conductor and record producer), our very own Christopher Gabbitas and Richard Causton (composer).Composers have the choice to submit their carol in one of four categories: SATB Choir (composers aged 18 and under and over-18), Community Choir and a 6-part carol for us.On the afternoon of 4 December in King’s College Chapel, we will with the judges to work with the winning composers of the Community Choir and SATB Choir composition categories in a workshop environment with choirs from across the UK. All entrants will be invited to the event and the winning carols will be performed. We will premiere the winning 6-part a cappella composition as part of the programme for our evening concert in the Chapel.
