Home! England

As promised in last week's blog, we now have a new King's Singer! I'm sure my other colleagues will have written/will be writing about this as well, because it's quite momentous news.Pat Dunachie, who as a graduate of King's is a perfect fit in every way, will join us in September to succeed David, my longest-standing colleague and the only remaining member of the group who had a hand in my own appointment back in 2003. I'm sure our friends around the world will immediately warm to Pat, who wanted to join the KS as an ambition from an early age - even writing an English essay on the subject when at school! He's a great guy and has a very fine voice. In other news, we completed the first tracks for our Christmas album earlier this week. The edits will soon follow, and we'll go back into the studio to complete the project in March. This will be David's last album with the group, and a nice way to complete his time with Signum Records as the first project the group recorded with Signum was also a Christmas album.Next week, we head to North America for the first long tour of 2016 - starting with a week of five concerts in Canada, after which the warmth of Florida and California will be welcome indeed. We're now looking ahead to 2018 with plans firming up nicely. Now that Pat has been appointed, we know what the group's lineup will be and so are able to think more carefully about what we sing, how we look and how best to present ourselves. Exciting times!
