Heading to Royal Holloway

Today we head to Royal Holloway for the start of our Summer School. I'm greatly looking forward to our five day stay there, working with lots of singers from around the world. I'm also looking forward to the visits of our two special guests, Eric Whitacre and Stephen Darlington. Dr Darlington will be working on music from the amazing Eton Choirbook, a collection of English choral music from the late 15th Century. Other highlights will be the final concert on Friday night, not to forget Chris G's Quiz Night on Tuesday evening! As Johnny said in his latest blog, we had a great time in Cheltenham on Thursday evening, celebrating Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". Since then we've had a weekend off. I spent Saturday celebrating Independence Day in the company of KS founding bass Brian Kay, as guests of Ellie Shearing. I first met Ellie back in 1990 just before the group recorded our "Get Happy" CD with her husband, George. It was lovely to reminisce about that recording, done at Abbey Road studios in my early days with the KS.
