Brno, Czech Republic

We're about to travel back to the UK after a couple of European concerts. Last night we opened a vocal jazz festival in Brno, the Czech Republic's second city. It was Julian's first a cappella Great American Songbook show, and I found myself musing on how I might have coped if I'd had to sing so much music from memory in my fifth concert. The venue for the show was a modern concert space, which was a mix of concert hall and club, and it was a great place to sing the GAS repertoire. Add a very enthusiastic crowd, and it made for an enjoyable evening. We'd spent some time in the afternoon working with two local groups. One group sang some of the Gesualdo Tenebrae Responsories for Maundy Thursday, which we'd performed the previous Sunday in South-West France. It made me realise what a varied life we lead. This coming week is the same, with two UK concerts, with a trip back to South-West France in between the two shows, followed by a concert in St Petersburg next weekend. For how, I'm looking forward to being back home to get myself prepared for the week ahead!
