The Eastern side of the US is being battered by fierce winter storms, as no doubt you've read in the media, but we've been fortunate to have avoided the worst of it, only suffering the indignity of losing our luggage for three days - which allowed us some guilt-free clothes shopping! Every cloud...Today we head across the Illinois/Indiana state border to visit De Pauw college in Greencastle, Indiana. Erstwhile home of my predecessor, Gabriel Crouch, I'm looking forward to seeing how his influence affected the choral programme there. Meeting up with Philip Lawson last night, and knowing that we're going to see Robin Tyson and Bob Chilcott next week, amongst others, means this is quite a reunion tour!Once you join the KS it does feel as though you're part of a family - Alistair Thompson (the original tenor) came to a concert in Winchester earlier this month, and although none of us was in the group with him we all felt a shared kinship through our touring experiences. Of course, we miss our families at home very much when we're away, but the shared bond within the group goes some way towards compensating for that.Right, time to dash off! Stay warm, everyone...
