Hello everyone,Thank you for all the lovely birthday messages I've received today. I must say, waking up and reading all the kind sentiments has made this lonely hotel room a whole lot less lonely!I am now the proud owner of a pair of Doris and Dude socks which are extremely comfortable. As I embark on my thirty fifth year on this planet I'm grateful for the good people and good things in my life: no.1 is Liz (thanks for the socks, love!) and no.2 is (as of very recently) carpet. I had forgotten just how lovely it was to step out of bed in the morning and walk on 10.3mm celestial underlay with some nice woven threads of softness on top. I mean, wow! Where have you been these past three years??!! I don't know how we lived apart from each other but I promise I'll never leave you again. So yes, excitement in my life is decidedly more homely in its orientation these days but that's cool. If it's not underlay or carpet, it's Fired Earth tiles, or Farrow & Ball Wimborne White paint, or trips to this little gem of a family-owned plant nursery: Bunkers Hill.Over the next year we're planning on putting the finishing touches to the house and then we can sit back and enjoy it. However, before then, it's 'Operation Rug' as we search for something to complement these bad boys! Ideas welcome. It's been a busy term so far and is about to get even busier. Those of you who are able to make one or more of the remaining 39 shows this year, I look forward to seeing you. Those who are unable to make the remaining 'top-40', so to speak, look out for us in 2019 and we hope to come to a town near you!Sorry it's been a while since I wrote a blog. Better tell you a bit about my holidays. Liz and I had two fabulous weeks in Scotland and Northumberland, taking in the delights of the Borders. If you haven't yet been, do go! Walks galore, excellent food and wine (and whisky!) and genuinely nice people. I can't believe I'd never been before given where it lies but we're already planning on going back next summer.Take care, wherever you are reading this from.Bye for now!
