Yesterday's concert in Bern with the amazing oboist Albrecht Mayer was our last concert of 2015. It was lovely to perform once again with Albrecht. His musicianship is remarkable, and the sound he makes is sublime. It reminded me of all the amazing instrumentalists I've had the privilege to work with during my time in the KS - pianists George Shearing, Roger Vignoles, and Emanuel Ax (whose playing of the Brahma Intermezzo in A brought tears to my eyes each time he played it during our US tour many years back), clarinettist Sabine Meyer, guitarist Manuel Barrueco, percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, to name but a few. Oh dear, I seem to be becoming rather sentimental and nostalgic - it must be all the performances of Stille Nacht we've done over the last three weeks.Anyway, we start our Christmas break today, so this will be the last blog for a few weeks. On behalf of the group, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, and we look forward to seeing in 2015.
