We came home late last night after our first non-UK concert with Julian, which was a performance of Gesualdo's amazing Tenebrae Responsories for Maundy Thursday (which I raved about in my last blog). We were guests of the wonderful Early Music Festival in La Réole in South-West France, singing in the fine acoustics of the town's Eglise Saint-Pierre. I love performing this sublime music, and it was wonderful to have such a warm reaction from the audience after 75 minutes of Gesualdo’s extraordinary polyphony. We have a few days off, followed by rehearsals later in the week in advance of the first Great American Songbook concerts with Julian - Potsdam for an orchestral show, with the first a cappella GAS show the following day in Brno in Slovakia. As many of you will know, we are kept on the straight and narrow by the fantastic team at Music Productions, led by Claire. For the last three year Rebecca Sparkes has worked alongside her as the KS's Concert Manager. She has been brilliant in the job, and we will miss her greatly.
