It's a day off after a busy week travelling around the UK. We had four concerts in Wales and England, starting with a concert in St Davids Cathedral in beautiful Pembrokeshire last Wednesday. Thursday's concert in the peaceful surroundings of Sheffield's St Marie's Cathedral was lovely. We performed our Pater Noster programme, which is always a favourite of mine. Then on Friday we visited the Swaledale Festival. Many of you will know how beautiful the Yorkshire Dales are, and for me Swaledale is the loveliest. The festival director, Malcolm Creese, is a good friend of the KS, both through the festival, and in his capacity as the bass player with the marvellous Acoustic Triangle. It was also great to see Bob Chilcott at the concert - he was there to lead a singing day on Saturday. We couldn't hang around for that as we were heading to Peterborough for a concert with the choirs of Peterborough Sings. Thanks to everyone there, and especially to Will Prideaux, their energetic music director. After the concert I drove Chris B back to Oxford before heading home. By the time (1.30 am) I reached my house, I'd driven over 1000 miles in the four days!Tomorrow we fly to Germany for the first of a series of orchestral Great American Songbook concerts this summer. Alongside the GAS repertoire, we're rehearsing some sublime Palestrina for our next recording project. If you'd like a preview, come to our Cambridge concert in Sidney Sussex College Chapel on June 10th.
