Atlanta, USA

Just woke up here at the Hilton Atlanta Airport Hotel after our transatlantic flights yesterday and re-orientating myself to the American way of life. The kind and extremely friendly manner in which I'm served, be it sitting at a meal, checking into the hotel or indeed just grabbing a coffee to go; the very large hotel rooms complete with two queen-size beds in each room (for single occupancy!); and the super-generous breakfast portions, including mountains of pancakes, waffles, bacon, cereal and troughs of syrup... Given that I'm trying to be sensible and get in shape, I'm really swimming against the tide here! Still, it's wonderful to be back in this land. We're flying on to Tallahassee later this morning. It's to be a fairly relaxed day today - which is a lovely way to start this reasonably intensive tour - with our only objectives for today really being: rest and nip our jet-lag in the bud; rehearse the choreography (since it's all new to me) of our Great American Songbook show for our first concert of the tour tomorrow. On top of that, I'll be doing some more memorising where I can (e.g. on the flight and this evening) for some of the new (to me) numbers for our Valentine's concert in Minneapolis coming up on Saturday. Happy days!
