I'm having a lovely gentle day at home before we head to Spain tomorrow afternoon. It is a public holiday here in the UK, so I don't feel bad about doing very little. It has been quite a busy time since we came back after our Easter break. Wednesday's concert at Münich's Prinzregenten Theater was great fun, featuring our Postcards programme. Then on Saturday we performed in London's Cadogan Hall as guests of the marvellous Hendon Band. This is one of the many excellent Salvation Army bands. Back in March 2005 we sang at the Festival Hall, once again as guests of the Hendon Band, and in discussing our contribution to the evening's programme with Doug Wilson, the organiser of the event, he mentioned the large repertoire of Salvation Army Songster music. He sent me some samples, and Phil arranged them for the group for performance that evening. They went down so well, that the idea of recording a CD for SP&S was proposed. A couple of years later Volume 1 was issued, and we followed this with two more albums. We have also returned to the SP&S studio to make albums for Signum Records (Postcards and our upcoming Christmas album). On Saturday evening our last set of the evening was three of our favourite selections from these albums. On Wednesday we will perform in one of my favourite places - Salamanca. The central square is, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful squares in the world. I know this is quite a claim, but in addition to great architecture, it is a place where normal life goes on. Unlike many of the most beautiful city squares around the world, it doesn't feel like a tourist destination, but just part of the a real city. Then on Thursday we head to another amazing city - Dresden. We will perform 3 short sets, with the last one starting around midnight. Then it's a couple of days in Hannover for a concert and workshop. After that we head home to prepare for our trip to the Far East. It's not a bad life!
